“Under the sea
Darling it’s better
Down where it’s wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin’
Full time to floatin’
Under the sea”
-Best Movie Ever
Take me there. To the sun, the hot sand that envelopes my toes and dissolves the priority of an overpriced pedicure. To the waves, crashing, distroying, creating. Teeming with death, birth, and more life than I can wrap my tiny human brain around. To a place so wide and fierce and beautiful that I finally get over my own nonsense for a minute- and I come again to a place where I am simply…just…human. A creature no more or less special than this very moment, this sound, this blessed day.
One beautiful breath away from the next grand triumph or failure, and the knowledge that I alone judge it as such…Except when you are unprepared for bikini season and just go for it- then yeah, other people have opinions. So caftans- that’s an option, right?
Paris on Ponce: Not trying on bikinis just yet- ’cause that’s just mean.

Oooo La La!
Well, my darling little butterflies-have quite the announcement to make! Perhaps you made it to our Bastille Day Festival and had the supreme treat of enjoying the puppetry of our darling friend David Stephens and the cheeky magic of the amazing Chad Sanborn. Speaking of cheeky- I’m sure that no one missed the magnificent parade of sass, sexiness, and bubbling laughter that spills from a troop of local burlesque dancers that goes by the name of Minette Magnifique!
Here is their story: It started with a glittering star in the sky and a flush on the cheeks of a few fair maidens. This was a rare simultaneous moment that can only be described as an awakening of the soul. A group of dazzling vixens from across the universe, time, and space found themselves suddenly sipping a little sazarac on the same sweet porch in New Orleans. Each vixen possessed a divine talent for titillating and tantalizing all who crossed their path. As stories unfurled and more libations were shared, these darlings declared themselves, Minette Magnifique: The Art of Delectable Dance, Sans the Pants. New Orleans could not control the passion of Minette. Eventually, they made their home in Atlanta and now we would like to welcome them to stay for as long as their lustful, wandering hearts can stand- to Paris on Ponce and Lé Maison Rouge.
To watch everyone’s face in the audience for their shows in Lé Maison Rouge was a complete joy, and their generosity, loveliness, and dedication was amazing. With all of that said, we here at our little bohemian playground would like to officially announce that we have opened our hearts and the home stage to our favorite can-caners at our Christmas Extravaganza (December 22-23)! But babies, that is just a warm up- just wait until you see what this magnificent troop is plotting for our Valentine’s show! Mark you calendars now- because you are booked.
Paris on Ponce: Because we can-can-can!

As you know, we are forever plotting our next big surprise at our little bohemian circus- so let us just give you une petite overview of what’s coming up in the next couple of months:
Mark your Calendar!
Black Friday Sales- The well-known American tradition of commercial sales that starts at approximately 4:00 a.m. the morning after Thanksgiving. Due in part to our love of an evening of laughter and vino, followed by a morning of luxurious sleeping in, and also due to the rumors of tramplings, screechings, parking-lot fights, stealing, stomping, and general mad-house un-fun-ess, this is not a tradition that we sexy, sassy bohemians choose to participate in. Instead- regardez cette: Extended hours all weekend, from 10-7 on Friday the 23rd, Saturday the 24th, and Sunday the 25th. Mimosas, holiday goodies, music, treats and super, super Paris on Ponce sales! Everywhere! Kick off your grand celebrations with us, darlings. And an extra special bonus for American Express card lovers- On Saturday, spend $25 on your AmEx, and they give you $25 back! Wha-WAAA?!?! (We don’t really dabble in “le maths”, but that sounds like pretty much “le free” to us.) Check it out at American Express Small Business Saturday on le webs.
Then….Mark your calenders for our “Holiday Extravaganza!” On Saturday, December 22nd and Sunday December 23rd bring the fam down for music, sales, a puppet show for all ages by David Stephens of All Hands Productions, food, drinks and more!
Pictures with Santa? Oh- the man will be there! More titillations to come- but count on your little merry-makers at Paris, it’s going to get wild…holiday style wild.
Paris on Ponce: So excited!!!!!!!!
The “Tale of the Argyle Arachnophobia.”
Part Two
So as you may recall, mes petits chats apeurés, when we last left them, our heroines- Sonja, Mariana, and Nicolette were bravely trudging back in to the long-shadowed spookiness of a nighttime Paris on Ponce to bolster themselves with some midnight juice boxes. However, it was apparent to all of the girls that Nicolette just couldn’t shake her heebie-jeebies concerning the possible movement to the large spider that they had just installed in the display window. “Geez, guys” she said nervously “I just can’t seem to shake my heebie-jeebies concerning the possible movement of the spider that we just installed in the display window.”
Sonja loved her friend, but sometimes, frankly, she was a bit of a scared-y cat. “Here, Nico” she said, handing her another fermented juice box. “Knock this back and you’ll feel better.”
They began to clean up their big paper mache explosion. Mariana hefted up the bucket of watered mache glue, glitter and paint and skipped off to the kitchen. Sipping and dancing around, Sonja worked on her break-dancing routine for next week’s talent show and Nicolette had whisked away the mess in the twitch of a black cat’s tail. (And by whisked away we mean that Nicolette had scooped up all the left-over craft paper and threw it in the parking lot. Cleaning was not really her “thing”.)
Suddenly there was an enormous crash, a splash and a blood-curling scream ripping its way down the hall, and Mariana flew into the room wide-eyed and covered in milky white paste and glitter. From her hair to her shoes, the panicked pretty girl was a wild mess of fear and general sparkly mayhem.
“What the….?!?” Stuttered a startled Sonja- and in the highest, loudest voice that you can imagine Mariana screamed her go-to letters of exclamation:
“OOOOOO. EEEEEEEMMMM.GEEEE!”
“I saw it! I saw it! I saw it!!!” she stammered.
“Saw what? What?!?” uttered a terrified Nicolette.
Wildly gesturing towards the kitchen, Mariana screamed “The-the-the spider! The Spider! In there!!!”
And then they all could hear it- a scraping, scratching, scurrying shuffle that really couldn’t be anything but a giant fanged spider.
Now, Paris on Ponce is a very big, very old building and if you have ever spent any time there, you know that just about anything is possible. Large paper Marie Antionettes appear overnight, whole walls disappear, Le Maison Rouge bubbles with burlesque and booze, and forgotten history reveals itself everyday- so the fact that a giant paper mache spider just came to life ain’t anything to scoff at. That being said- let’s catch up to our girls:
Sonja has gone stiff and pale, clutching an Exact-O knife in her tight fist, Nicolette has planted her feet and is facing the growing shadow of massive spider legs crawling toward her with a silent scream stretched across her face, and Mariana…well, the second that she stopped pointing to the kitchen, she turned on one cute red heel and started leaping towards the front door.
Snapping to life, Sonja grabbed Nicolette’s sleeve and yanked her towards the exit. But she was frozen to the spot. All of her fears had come true, and she couldn’t move. The shadow was so large it was hitting the top of the 15 ft. ceilings and looming over the girls. Sonja saw what needed to be done and in one quick swoop she clenched the Exact-O between her teeth, grabbed Nicolette around the waist and gracefully flung her over her shoulder. Like nails on a giant chalkboard, the scraping became bone-chillingly loud, and as Sonja ran with Little-Miss-Light-as-a-Feather bouncing on her shoulder towards the door, she didn’t dare to look back.
Sonja’s panting and panic rose to near mind-blowing levels when she reached the parking lot because there, in the middle, flopped on the ground was a passed-out Mariana. She had completely fainted! Once again, her mind racing, Sonja knew what she had to do- she threw Nicolette down on top on Mariana. Nicolette, having lost the composure that her juice boxes usually provided for her with the trauma, began to flail around. Hands on her hips, Sonja watched the inevitable. The glue that had soaked Mariana was now ensnaring Nicolette to her like quicksand-the more she struggled, the tighter the bond. Giving the whole situation a few seconds was all she needed.
She sprinted over to the pile of discarded craft paper that Nicolette had flung into the brush, grabbed it and quickly wrapped the sticky duo into one giant hysterical paper ball. With a mighty shove she pushed the girls towards the slope of the lot and they quickly gained their own rolling momentum.
Having gotten her frantic friends rolling towards the safety of Ponce de Leon at midnight (wait a minute…), Sonja once again planted her feet, plucked her trusty Exact-O from her teeth, and turned her steady gaze towards the door.
Ooooooooooo………What will happen? Will Nico and Mariana get trampled by a mob trying to make it to Chipotle for a midnight burrito? Will Sonja survive the massive mound of possessed craft art to “pop, lock and drop it” at the talent show? Will Mariana ever get the glitter out of her hair?!? EEEEEEKKKKK!
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Stay tuned for the conclusion of “”Tale of the Argyle Arachnophobic” in next week’s Paris on Ponce Le Petite Journal.
Paris on Ponce: Great big balls of home-made fun!

“Tale of the Argyle Arachnophobic.”
PART I
The leaves were falling, the air was getting brisk, and three girls were getting excited for the coming holidays. One night, after another silly day at Paris on Ponce, Sonja, Mariana, and Nicolette decide to stay late and work on a giant paper mache spider for the Halloween window.
“Oh man! This is gonna be great!” squealed Mariana as she ripped up newspaper and dunked it in the mache mix. “We are going to scare everyone!”

Fall Terrarium Class
Focusing on Fall with new textures and a terrarium class!
It’s seasonal. Cyclical. We all have our yearly rhythms. Winter is for presents, for hot chocolate, for cozying up with a favorite pug. Spring always seems to arrive a little late, the chill of February seems to linger a little too long, and by the time it actually arrives, often we are already plotting our summer lives. Waiting that long for the briskness to shake off of our bones, at the first opportunity we plunge head first into a pool of too much sun, too many cocktails, and a couple of poor clothing choices influenced by too much sun and too many cocktails. Plus- some really fortunate candid moments posted by “friends” on line always makes this crew think that’s it’s time to re-evaluate and clean house.
The air starts to have a little bite, and clean lines, mixed textures, sharp lines and actual art snaps our mojito soaked minds back to attention. As our retinas begin to expand to accommodate overcast days, saturated colors take on a whole new importance in our lives. The hipness of green fluorescence now seems like a tawdry cousin of celedon. The spring lilacs that seemed so sweet are no comparison to the power of fall’s aubergine, and what once was cheery grass green is now mock-able next to the teals and turquoise. Silver-gray is the new ivory, and charcoal is way sexier than the noncommittal blandness of black.
The flippant disposableness of summer fabrics feel suddenly cheap, and we blindly hunger for tapestries, raw silks, velvets and embroidery. Then our fingers-so recently seemingly content with everything plastic and collapsible, now ache for the smoothness of hand-sanded woods, the rough luxury of decaying gilt and gesso, and the slick luxury of enameled steel.
History in accouterments, rich woods, and artisan pieces will sooth your itchy soul. Cross our hearts, my little fall phoenixes.
Speaking of renewing and revamping, if you’ve stopped by recently you know that is pretty much what we specialize in here at our little Paris on the Ponce. So re-find your favorite scarf, switch off the a/c, call a friend for a catch-up date (They have been up to no good this summer, I guarantee it!) and swing on by find the small treasure that launches the whole new you into this coming season’s rich beauty.
Annnnd…if you would like to make that catch-up date after-hours and with a complimentary glass of vino or two, join us for a free evening terrarium class on Wednesday October 3rd, at 7:30! Bring a memento to incorporate, a friend to learn and play with, or just your joie de vivre and let’s have a little down and dirty fun.
Paris on Ponce: On the cusp, on the move, and on the ball! (ish…)
ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGgggggg, me loverly wenches and hearties! Slap on yer eyepatches and get your peg leg a tappin’ down the gangplank fer some good ole fashin’ lootin’ and raidin’- ’cause mateys, today, September 19th is International Talk like a Pirate Day! “Well, shiver me timbers! You be lyin’ deader than a smart-mouthed scallywag rootin’ into me rums!” you say. And to you I…Well- I just kind of just ran out of patience for the whole thing, and sauntered away. It was a good run though, eh darlings?
So here at our little Paris on Ponce we have been madly scraping, painting, lighting and building out an entirely new section due to be open very soon with eight new artists and designers adding their talents and vision. An amazing new talent has planted the coolest drafting table that you have ever seen in our front room, Hartifacts has blessed us with a perfect chesterfeild sofa, Lisa Lou has gone hat crazy, Bricks & Mortar just brought back amazing and affordable new treasures from Europe, ceramic artist Megan Daloz has brought in some astounding pieces and Relics has expanded all of their sexy pickin’s.
Plus- a whole treasure chest of Lampe Berger has arrived!
So saunter your little booties down to our playground and see what jems we have hidden around the poopdeck, ye salty dogs! Yaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggg!

I Could be You
You know one of them. The well traveled, well healed, witty, charming, snarky friend with an airy and whimsical house filled with all kinds of interesting treasures. They have lived three lives and host friends on occasion from the time that they wintered in South Africa, or Venice, or toured with that one punk band through Russia. They tinker like magicians on a kalimba at sunset, and serve blooming teas with a cognac chaser. Their asides are as sharp as the point on their shoes, and their cheese knowledge borders on the suspicious. Their home is neither pretentious or in any way “making do”. Their version of “making do” would be in an intricately embroidered vagabond tent under a Moroccan sky.
Their lives are…..*sigh*….TOTALLY ATTAINABLE! You heard me, darlings- even if you can’t run to Paris this weekend to pick up a scarf that whispers French chic, Lisa Lou did it for you! How about a chair from the Eiffel Tower that’s been torched and gilded- who has that?!! The coolest kid on the block-you, that’s who! Moroccan pillows, double decker route signs from London, portraits from Prague, baskets from Brussels, hand-carved temple ornaments from Thailand, books from Russia, slick mid-century Italian lights, Roman chandeliers, and German road signs could jazz up any home that once drank a bottle of wine and got loose and fast with a credit card and a Pottery Barn catalog.
So press play on that Rosetta Stone again, stock the ice box with some grevenbroker and dunavia, slap on some elbow patches, and instagram your way on down to your own little international marketplace. Life is short, and surrounding yourself with the world is easier than you think here at out little bohemian playground.

Treasure from Asia
Balance. Tranquility. Peace. Beauty.
An Asian perspective has settled in at our own little PoP Marché.
Beautifully lacquered teak Chinese coffee tables from the 1950′s. Salvaged temple architecture. Statement necklaces made of bone, glass, and mother of pearl that sing softly of sophistication and elegance. Hand made artisan bags in brilliant hues from Thai Hill tribes. Elegant and whimsical silver and gold threaded slippers. Hand painted market umbrellas. Tall carved mango wood vases. Authentically weathered teak artifacts. Buddha Bamboo urns. Hanging silk and paper Japanese scrolls from the mid-nineteenth to mid-twentieth century. Minimalist leather satchels. SangHo Park and his “Treasure from Asia” has generously agreed to grace our little bohemian paradise with his sweet presence, and we are serenely happy.
Treasure from Asia, a set on Flickr.
Baudelaire. The Pug. Perhaps the most photographed pug in Atlanta. You’ve seen him at his best – splayed across the counter, a fuzzy little beached seal pup of a dog seducing you with his “devil may care” attitude. You may have seen him at his worst – swillin’ brewskis and talking trash with the neighborhood strays after hours in Le Maison Rouge. In any case, he is a man worth celebrating, and boy, are we doing it this weekend!
Baudelaire Supernaculum turns THREE on Sunday!!! According to some that would be the big 21 in human years – so he can finally ditch that fake ID! (It has a golden retriever on it and is watermarked “authentique” anyways.)
But we digress! Come celebrate big fat pug style with MAJOR sales throughout the store this weekend. 10-50% off all kinds of amazing stuff. Vintage, new, repurposed, terrariums, mid-century modern, artisan, designer, gifts, games, and a raffle!
And…Get this! If you bring in a pug or a french bulldog to help us celebrate and run riot, you get 25% off anything in the front shop and everything in the DIY shop is goes home for to the best offer. O.M.P!!!
Let’s do this together, just like our favorite little pug would! All or nothing, darlings – that’s Paris on Ponce Pug Party Style!
Paris on Ponce and PoP Marche: Cause basically, we are just out for a good damn time
Do you know what is better than giggling along with kids while dunking a brownie in milk? Uh…nothing. That’s what.
Did you make it for the Bastille Day festival? Of course you did! Remember the amazing puppet show in Le Maison Rouge with David Stevens of All Hands Productions? Of course you do! And remember how amazed you were at the delicious nibbles from Bake, Rattle and Roll Bakery that were spread before you like a sweet buffet of warm baked sunshine? Mmmmmmmmmmm, yes, it’s all coming back to you now. Well, guess what?!
We are doing it again! For free! Open to the public! Fun for all ages! (No really- I am totally old and thought it was A-Mazing.)

You know them- you love them. Lisa Lou of the handmade, refound and cleverly repurposed furnishings mixed with unique decor accents in washes of blues, greens and creams. Remember the corbell lamps that would be perfect flanked aside your bed? Beat the masses, because they are one of a kind.
And Pascal….Oh, Pascal, you rascal! A little bit of handpainted French here, a naughtly little bit of chrome there. Sleek floor lamps, vintage italian chandeliers, and the perfect basket trunk bring us to Pascal’s Home. At 20% off, accent your home with the style and grace that come from not only having style and grace but also from knowing that you got a heck of a deal. This weekend. 20% off. Now that’s you wearing your most stylin’ smarty pants!
Aaaaaaannnnnnnnddddddd! Drumroll please……..PUPPET SHOW! We love your kiddlettes!
Yeah! You heard it! We are bringing him back just for you and the kiddos! The famous, infamous, of Sesame Street fame- David Stevens with All Hands Productions is doing another show here at Le Maison Rouge! FREE OF CHARGE! Eeeeeek!
Now I know the questions that you are asking yourself….How did we convince him to do such a thing? And for free?!! Open to the public?!!!
And to you we say: Have you met us? We are nothing if not charming! (Plus a lot of other things, like pleading, whining, and full of fairy-dust kisses and hugs.)
Anywho, let’s not get caught up in the details. Put it on the calendar- it is not to be missed. The last Sunday of the month, August 26th, at 1:00, in Le Maison Rouge, get comfy for a wonderful original production of Billy Goats Gruff and Other Stuff. You bring the little ones ready for a treat, we’ll bring the lemonade and cookies!
Paris on Ponce: Just because we wear our smarty pants on our head doesn’t mean we aren’t wearing them!
(I don’t know what that means either.)
Wheeeeeeeeeeee!
(Okay- I’m going to lay off the energy shots.)
20% off Sexy Artisan Reclaimed Furnishings by Local Designers
Sexy Artisan Reclaimed Wha??? And yes-yes you do need one of these bright pops of urban beauty in your life. Individually hand-crafted by local phenom J.P. McChesney, these steel beauties are exclusively sold at our own little Paris on the Ponce. Inspired by the brilliant yet slightly forgotten colors of distressed signage and buildings in the Caribbean, these incredible pieces are both functional artifacts of the future and bohemian reveries made into furnishings. Get ‘em while you can…Oh, and gettin’ em’ this weekend gets you 20% off too. BONUS!
Leslie Baugues makes her nest at our own little bohemian playground!
While we are at it, let us introduce you to the sweetest little bird in the forest. Leslie Baugues’ style of delicately trimmed, beautifully recovered, one-of-a-kind seating covers all styles and genres. From white hair-on-hide Eames style chairs to flagrantly flocked parsons in bold colors to delicately embroidered West Indian quilting with nail-head detail, you just have to see these to believe how sweet and sparkly a great corner/vanity/lounge chair can be.
Have that corner that just needs “something”? Between these two artists, you will find the perfect locally made, beguiling (and comment catching) treatment that will make you smile everytime you walk into the room.Keep in mind though, that as with most things that are one-of-a-kind, there is just the one. Collective consciousness is alive and well, my little doves, so come on down and find your furniture soul-mate this week-end at 20% off. (Geez, who knew your soul-mate would be so cheap?)
Paris on Ponce: Full of frivolities, beguiling with bonuses, and frankly…pretty fantastic in every way.
