Fall Terrarium Class
Focusing on Fall with new textures and a terrarium class!
It’s seasonal. Cyclical. We all have our yearly rhythms. Winter is for presents, for hot chocolate, for cozying up with a favorite pug. Spring always seems to arrive a little late, the chill of February seems to linger a little too long, and by the time it actually arrives, often we are already plotting our summer lives. Waiting that long for the briskness to shake off of our bones, at the first opportunity we plunge head first into a pool of too much sun, too many cocktails, and a couple of poor clothing choices influenced by too much sun and too many cocktails. Plus- some really fortunate candid moments posted by “friends” on line always makes this crew think that’s it’s time to re-evaluate and clean house.
The air starts to have a little bite, and clean lines, mixed textures, sharp lines and actual art snaps our mojito soaked minds back to attention. As our retinas begin to expand to accommodate overcast days, saturated colors take on a whole new importance in our lives. The hipness of green fluorescence now seems like a tawdry cousin of celedon. The spring lilacs that seemed so sweet are no comparison to the power of fall’s aubergine, and what once was cheery grass green is now mock-able next to the teals and turquoise. Silver-gray is the new ivory, and charcoal is way sexier than the noncommittal blandness of black.
The flippant disposableness of summer fabrics feel suddenly cheap, and we blindly hunger for tapestries, raw silks, velvets and embroidery. Then our fingers-so recently seemingly content with everything plastic and collapsible, now ache for the smoothness of hand-sanded woods, the rough luxury of decaying gilt and gesso, and the slick luxury of enameled steel.
History in accouterments, rich woods, and artisan pieces will sooth your itchy soul. Cross our hearts, my little fall phoenixes.
Speaking of renewing and revamping, if you’ve stopped by recently you know that is pretty much what we specialize in here at our little Paris on the Ponce. So re-find your favorite scarf, switch off the a/c, call a friend for a catch-up date (They have been up to no good this summer, I guarantee it!) and swing on by find the small treasure that launches the whole new you into this coming season’s rich beauty.
Annnnd…if you would like to make that catch-up date after-hours and with a complimentary glass of vino or two, join us for a free evening terrarium class on Wednesday October 3rd, at 7:30! Bring a memento to incorporate, a friend to learn and play with, or just your joie de vivre and let’s have a little down and dirty fun.
Paris on Ponce: On the cusp, on the move, and on the ball! (ish…)
